Through the Chaos

"Every stumbling word of discipline, every weary gesture of affection, every struggle to remain consistent, and every mumbled prayer for your child -- it's all finding its place in the heavenly order."
- Bri Carlisle
I traveled out of state to meet my precious friend and fellow adoptive Mama, Morgan last week. We both needed to get out of the house and have some much needed "Mommy time". It feels so good to connect with other Moms who are going through a similar season that you are in. Morgan's sweet babe who is 10 weeks old is facing a lot of the same challenges that Ollie had (reflux & sensitivity to milk).
Now that Ollie is getting better and we have found remedies that work for him, I am glad I can offer advice & support to someone going through it. That night when I got home, I said some extra prayers for Morgan because I knew exactly how drained she was feeling.
Y'all, it is rough for Mama & baby. It is exhausting when you don't know how to help your baby feel better. It's heartbreaking when you have to hear your baby scream for hours without being able to soothe them. You feel as though you aren't making a difference no matter what you try. Your heart begins to feel malnourished and you feel worthless and empty some days. But being on the other side now, I am here to tell you that it all matters.
 Every bounce.
Every countless walk down the hall.
Every extra snuggle.
Every diaper change.
All those countless hours of no sleep.
No matter what your battle is,whether its battling reflux or just the daily struggles of motherhood, what you are doing matters. It all matters to God. YOU matter. Motherhood is God's work and you are his most prized possession! Mamas, on those hard days just remember he has already fought the battles you are facing today! This is SO hard to remember. Especially when you are exhausted and just want to curl up and cry. But God promises us that we are doing great work for his kingdom. Take rest in him & let him be your strength! . He is using us to write a bigger story than we could ever imagine.
